June 2012 - Reflections

When I gave our readers the chance to answer the questions, “Where is your God spot? Where do you feel closest to God and why?”, I expected to hear stories as varied and special as our readers. I wasn’t disappointed. And while each one is unique, they are strung together by the silken cord of God’s intimate, personal love. They are a glorious testimony of God’s presence within and beside us as we walk this faith walk together. I hope you enjoy these “God Spot” stories as much as I did.

“It is not so much where I am, as it is what I am doing.”
That’s what Ashleigh Milam, 13, says about her personal God Spot. Indeed, the seventh-grader says she feels close to God in many places, even when she’s rollerblading. “There are times while I am skating I talk to God. It is quiet, and I can concentrate while I am out there. When I am outside, I can just pour out my heart to Him, and I know that He will listen.” She feels particularly close to God outdoors, “when I have been spending time in the Word,” she notes. “Talking to God is the most wonderful thing you can do when you are struggling with things.”
